This policy explains what Estia collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the controls you have over your information. We try to write privacy policies the way we'd want to read them.
Account, job, and receipt data.
When you sign up we collect your name, email, and where applicable your phone number, address, and payment information. When you post a job or apply as a pro we collect what you tell us about the job and the work. When a job is filmed we collect the footage, time stamps, and location metadata necessary to seal a receipt.
To run the marketplace.
We use your information to operate Estia, match homeowners with pros, process payments, verify identity and licensure, prevent fraud, send transactional notices, and improve the product. We do not sell personal information.
Only what the job requires.
Homeowners and pros see the information needed to communicate, schedule, and complete a job. Verification partners receive what is needed to confirm license, insurance, or identity. Payment processors receive what is needed to move money. We disclose information to law enforcement only under valid legal process or to prevent imminent harm.
Filmed work, kept honestly.
Receipts are stored under our chain-of-custody system in encrypted, append-only storage. We do not edit, re-encode, or re-sequence sealed receipts. Homeowners control sharing of their receipts. Contractors may use their own receipts as portfolio references with homeowner-identifying details obscured on request.
What runs in your browser.
We use a small set of first-party cookies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure product usage in aggregate. We use limited third-party cookies for fraud prevention and payments. We do not run ad-network trackers. You can disable non-essential cookies in your account settings or through your browser. Disabling essential cookies will break parts of the site, including sign-in.
How long we keep things.
Account information is kept for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after, for tax, legal, and dispute-resolution purposes. Receipts are kept indefinitely so they remain useful to homeowners across home sales, insurance claims, and warranty work — that is one of the points of Estia. You can request deletion of personally identifying details on a sealed receipt.
Access, correct, export, delete.
You can access and update most of your information from your account dashboard. You can request an export or deletion of your personal data by emailing us. Some information must be retained for legal or fraud-prevention reasons even after a deletion request.
Not for kids.
Estia is not directed to children under thirteen and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Updates land here.
Material changes to this policy will be posted here with a new date and announced by email or in-app notice. Your continued use of Estia after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
